Planning Your Event

From first idea to final invoice

A client-side walkthrough of budgeting, building a vendor shortlist, running the timeline and closing out payments safely.

4 lessons · 40 min · foundation

Lesson 1 · 10 min

Set a real budget

Decide what matters most.

Split your budget across venue, food, production and everything else, then decide the two categories you will spend above average on. Trying to be excellent everywhere is how budgets break.

Lesson 2 · 10 min

Build a shortlist

Compare three, not thirty.

Use the marketplace filters to narrow by category, city and price, save your favourites to an event, then request quotes from three vendors per category so you can compare like for like.

Lesson 3 · 10 min

Run the timeline

The plan is the product.

Work backwards from the event date: bookings confirmed, final numbers, run sheet shared, setup window and rehearsal. Give every vendor the same document so nobody improvises.

Lesson 4 · 10 min

Close out safely

Pay, review, archive.

Confirm delivery, release escrow, keep the invoices in one place and leave an honest review. It takes ten minutes and it makes the whole marketplace better for the next planner.
